Heartfelt Therapy
Play Therapy
At the Spotted Dog Studio play therapy methods are encouraged with children aged 3 through 11. Our approach provides a way for our younger clients to express their experiences and feelings through a natural, self-guided, self-healing process. When accompanied by a safe and gentle facilitator, children will often communicate and express their experiences through play, which can become an important and vital vehicle for them to come to know and accept themselves and others. A combination of Expressive Therapy methods (such as Art Therapy) and Animal Assisted Therapy (such as Equine Facilitated Wellness) in a natural setting, may also become part of the treatment program should it prove to be beneficial for the child and is supported by the family.
At Heartfelt Therapy we have experience working with Indigenous Communities and peoples of the West Coast. Especially the Coast Salish People, on whose territory The Spotted Dog Studio rests. Our approach is multi-cultural and seeks to respect the varied world views and beliefs of other Nations. We strive to honour Indigenous viewpoints, paradigms and healing practices in all our work with Indigenous children.
